Video is not just a favourite element in the discourse of today’s young artists. It has also become an extension of the field of photography, as can be readily seen in the work of the Nordic artists at Paris Photo.

The Project Room will offer a sweeping survey of current Nordic video art from emerging artists. Entitled “The Singing, Swinging North,” the selection emphasizes music as an essential common element among young Nordic artists. Some are musicians themselves, like Iceland’s Egill Saebjörnsson and Finland’s Seppo Renvall. Others work with composers, like Bård Ask with Jan Erik Mikalsen and The Iceland Love Corporation with Olafur Björn Olafsson. Then there are those who use singing or the voice as a form of expression in association with a visual image, such as the Norwegian Ane Lan and the Dane Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen.
